Travel tips during Fiesta

One of the best kept secrets of Fiesta is how to get around and park for the big events. Anytime you bring those large crowds together for an event parking and traffic will always be a hassle. Fiesta is no exception. What makes Fiesta even worse are those darn barricades. They are necessary to help make the events safe for pedestrians but they always get in the way of where you want to go.

So how do you get to Fiesta events and park? For those big events (the parades, Fiesta Oysterbake, NIOSA) you Park and Ride. In other words, you use VIA's Park and Ride service to the major events.

VIA has offered Park and Ride service for Fiesta for as long as I've been attending this big party. You can park your car at one of the many lots offered by VIA and buy a round trip token that gets you to about as close to the event as you can reasonably get. When you're ready to go home VIA is waiting there with buses to take you back to where you left your car, provided you get on the right bus. VIA makes it easy by keeping the buses separated. It's up to you to remember where you parked.

This is the only way to get to those big Fiesta events. VIA provides a free parking spot, safe driving to and from the event and good fellowship with other Fiesta participants on the ride to and from. I've met some of the friendliest people riding on Park and Ride. Heck, they're having the same kind of Fiesta fun you are having. Otherwise they wouldn't be on the bus with you.

So take advantage of VIA's Park and Ride for Fiesta events. It's one of the best kept secrets of Fiesta.
